The Jamaica Project

HOPE & RESQ has exciting news. We have begun partnering with OSDJ and the International Leadership Institute to conduct a Human Trafficking Fact Finding Trip to Jamaica.
October 10 – 15, 2011. The purpose of this trip is to meet with relevant stakeholders (NGOs, government agencies and others) and gather information to support the development of a documentary—highlighting history and the current plight of human trafficking through-out the Caribbean. Jamaica is the first of many trips we will be taking to the Caribbean region.
The working title is “Hope of Freedom.” It will be produced as a bilingual educational documentary and be aired throughout the Caribbean.
We are targeting in the Caribbean where the majority of the 400 years of transatlantic slavery took place. (Approximately 4.6 million slaves were disembarked to the Caribbean region during that timeframe. America received approx. 303,000.) The documentary’s aim is to make a difference in reversing the tide of injustice by directly helping today’s victims. We intend to aid those at risk and support programs directed at eradicating the systemic root causes of trafficking in the Caribbean.
If you would like the opportunity to help financially support this important trip and the making of the documentary, please contribute by using the support level buttons on this page. The estimated cost for this October’s trip is $1,500.00.
We need your help, and your contribution to this worthy cause is tax deductible.
